Prayer and Worry!

By Apollos, Indonesia

In our daily lives, encountering problems is never a rare occurrence. But sometimes, when the problem feels too big, we become fearful of how our decision may impact our future. We ask ourselves: Why did this have to happen? Why did God allow such a problem into my life?

The typical response to this would be to pray and also, to worry. When we pray, we are enjoying a time of personal conversation with God. And God assures us in Matthew 7:9 that He never gives a stone at the request for bread. But what about worry? In Matthew 6:34, He tells us, “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today” (nlt).

Not convinced? Just stop what you’re doing now and take a deep breath. This ability to breathe is a gift from our almighty Father. Without Him, what would we be? If we are still in doubt, let us try to recall the number of times that God had answered our prayers. Countless, isn’t it?

Take heart that present problems exist so that we can learn from it and grow stronger in our relationship with God. Remember friends, no matter how big your problem may be, God is still bigger. He gives grace to the humble and is an ever-present help in time of need. So do not worry because we have a great and faithful God that is with us until the end of time. Be blessed!

“That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?”
—Matthew 6: 25 – 27

How hard it is at times not to worry. This really encourages me that God knows beforehand the troubles we are going to encounter and that He’s greater than all our troubles
