Movie Review: Source Code
By Daniel Adhi Surya, Indonesia

Wisdom cries aloud in the street, in the markets she raises her voice; at the head of the noisy streets she cries out; at the entrance of the city gates she speaks. —Proverbs 1:20-21 (ESV)
In the same way, God never ceases to surprise me with His unique ways of “raising” His voice to get my attention. One of these instances happened when the Lord exposed the difficult relationship I have with my father while watching the movie Source Code. Not only did God “expose” this issue, He also dished out practical ways for me to mend this broken relationship!
The movie tells of a young soldier named Captain Colter Stevens (played by Jake Gyllenhaal) who was about to die on the battlefield. Interestingly, moments before his death, Captain Colter decided to share with his fellow soldiers about his bad relationship with his father and admitted that he was helpless in getting it straightened out.
Before his heart completely stopped beating, Captain Colter had 8 minutes to sort things out. What really touched me is how Captain Colter struggled to make every second count in those 8 minutes!
After he had foiled a planned bombing of a train that was heading for Chicago, he used the remaining minutes of his life to call his father for the last time to mend their relationship (it was at this scene that God reminded me of my own relationship with my dad!).
It is amazing the way the Lord is able to use even the most random events in our life to speak to us. When the Holy Spirit opened the eyes of my heart to see what God was trying to say to me, I realized that I would never be able to hide from Him! Even after watching the movie, the conversation between Captain Colter and his dad was on constant replay in my head. It felt as if God was prodding and saying to me, “Come on, Daniel, don’t you want to straighten out your relationship with your father, like what Captain Colter did? It is good to be reconciled with your dad!” John 10:27 says, “My sheep hears My voice; I know them and they follow Me.” The choice was clear; I knew what I had to do.
Today, will we bend our ears and train our spiritual sensitivity to hear the wisdom of God crying out in His Word and in His World? Will you be obedient to do what God calls you to do? That’s what I’m trying to do right now. May this be an encouragement to everyone!

Humility and Thor
By Ian Gustafson, 19, USA It’s amazing how you can sometimes feel the way God tweaks life’s lessons to personalize them according to the individual He made you. When you’re a comic book nerd, like me, such revelations seem to showcase God’s quirky side and sense of humor. It’s fun to be a comic book [...]
