ODB: Bad Choice

May 31, 2011
The same Christ who talks about the glories of heaven also describes the horrors of hell.
READ: Revelation 20:11-15
Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, some to shame and everlasting contempt. —Daniel 12:2
An elderly TV star was asked by talk-show host Larry King about heaven. King prefaced his question by referring to Billy Graham, who had told King he “knew what would be ahead. It would be paradise. He was going to heaven.”
King then asked his guest, “What do you believe?” He replied, “I’d like a lot of activity. Heaven sounds too placid for me. There’s a lot to do in hell.”
Sadly, this man is not alone in thinking that an existence in Satan’s realm is a preferred destination. I’ve heard people say that they’d rather be in hell because all their friends will be there. One person wrote, “If hell was real, I don’t think it would be bad. There would be a lot of interesting people.”
How can we convince folks who are deceived in this way that hell and its horrors are to be avoided? Perhaps by telling them of the realities of hell that are presented in the Scripture. In Daniel 12:2, it is described as a place of “shame and everlasting contempt.” Luke 16:23 talks about “torments.” Matthew 8:12 describes “weeping and gnashing of teeth.” And Revelation 14:11 says there will be “no rest.”
Biblical truth doesn’t allow anyone to think that hell might be a good place to be. Clearly, rejecting Jesus and facing an eternity in Satan’s kingdom is a bad choice.

I think people choose hell also because they refuse to accept what God has done through His Son on the cross and this refusal stemmed from pride. I remember one of my friends told me that he would rather be responsible for his deeds than to have someone to shoulder his blame. To him, it is a right thing to do. Justice must be serve! No one should got off free. Indeed, it is true if without God’s mercy and intervention.
Anyway, any place without God is considered hell – where God’s law and grace is not practice or enforce. How can there be peace, especially peace with God our Creator and life giver.
I am not sure how urgent are we when we heard that our friends are still not a believer yet.
One of the most powerful gift man was made with is the gift of choice. God did not make man to look like a zombie. He made him to be able to choose for himself. However, every choice taken has it’s consequences. Bad choices are made when we go out of God’s plan for our lives (prov. 3vs 5-6). in the book of matthew 6, Jesus gave the blu print for prayer there He said these words ” thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven”. Jesus was not just talkin about GOD’S general will, He was also talking about His individual will. If we are doubtful about what His will is, we can ask Him in prayer (matt 7vs7). God loves us the way we are but He loves us too much to leave us that way. He wants you to make the right choices in life.
Could it be our non-Christian friends do not know who our God is? Not just about places – Heaven and Hell, but about having a relationship with God about Judgement of God besides His love that you depicted. The whole important idea is about knowing who God is and what He has done. The focus shouldn’t be focusing too much on ourselves for we are unworthy of His love and salvation offer for us who believe. I thank God for his sovereignty over the choices that I have made and are making. Surely, our Lord is more power than we think.
I think its really sad that people would say that.
a good book to recamend to friends is In the chat room with God. it talks about stuff that people do now a days.
Let’s pray for our unsaved friends and loved ones who are lost.
