I Am Beautiful

By Debra Ayis, 20, Nigeria

Don’t believe when they said:
“You aren’t beautiful”
The world can’t put you down

I am beautiful
And special to One
Perfectly crafted by the Creator

They say beauty is how you look
Your height, your weight, and your shape
They defined beauty by only the externals

But God sees my exterior and interior
And He has made me beautiful
He alone defines what true beauty is.

Let not the world define me
With its standards and expectations
May everything that I am
My being and character
Be measured by your precepts
Oh Lord! Define me.

“Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.” —Psalm 139: 14
