Reflection: Lives Surrendered And Offered Wholly
From the youths trekking for hours over 3 consecutive days to sing Christmas carols at fellow believers’ homes, to the regular house fellowships which may be held up to 4-hour away by foot, to the sister-in-Christ offering her home and taking up the responsibility and call to carry His light in her secluded village, and to the brother-in-Christ who persists in the faith in spite of the cold shoulder given by the woman he loves . . .

Can these be seen as worship to our Heavenly Father? Worship to Him in Spirit and in truth?

These believers offered their time, effort and all that they have to Him. They put Him first in their lives. Period!

Despite their heavy circumstantial burden such as poverty and the daily struggle to make ends meet, they seek Him first.

Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously,
and He will give you everything you need —Matthew 6:33 (NLT)

I wondered: How much longer am I going to put Him, the One and only One who died for me, after task A, task B, important task C, urgent task D and then maybe tomorrow or another day perhaps?”

Another incident that left a deep impression on me was during a visit to the home of my friend’s grandparents in Kathmandu. We met two foreign ladies speaking in the local tongue mingling with the elderly couple. After a few moments of interaction, we discovered that these two ladies were probably from a cult group who studies the same Bible we read, but who believes it selectively.

There are non-believers who desire to learn God’s Word but there are also false teachers out there who teach the Bible wrongly and are leading people astray. Thus we ought to work hard to learn God’s Word properly and desire an in-depth knowledge of His Word.

My inadequate knowledge of God’s Living Word really puts me to shame. My experience in Nepal certainly serves as a wake up call and it motivates me (and hopefully, you too) to delve deeper into the study of His Word—the Word of our Saviour!

May we learn from these faithful Nepali brothers and sisters in Christ that learning His Word and worshipping Him in our daily lives in whatever we do should indeed be our top priority!

Disclaimer: In the write-up, all names of friends and locations have been changed to protect them and the ministries. Also, reflections are solely of my own personal insights and experiences only. It is not aimed at influencing or imposing a view, but may it be a reminder to pray intently for brothers and sisters in Christ beyond our circles serving in the works of our Father.
