Intercessory prayer is life’s real work.

READ: Colossians 4:1-12

Always laboring fervently for you in prayers, that you may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God. —Col. 4:12

Just before John Ashcroft was being sworn in as a US senator, he met with family and friends for prayer. As they gathered around him, he saw his dad trying to get up from the couch where he sat. Since his father was in frail health, Ashcroft told him, “That’s okay, Dad. You don’t have to stand up to pray for me.” His father replied, “I’m not struggling to stand up. I’m struggling to kneel.”

His father’s effort reminds me of the exertion it sometimes takes to intercede for a fellow believer. In Colossians, Paul refers to Epaphras as a bondservant who is “always laboring fervently for you in prayers, that you may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God” (Col. 4:12). “Laboring fervently” is the translation of a Greek word from which we get our word agony. It was used of wrestlers who in the Greek gymnastic games strained to overcome an opponent.

Epaphras interceded for other believers to become mature in their walk with the Savior. Asking God to overcome obstacles to spiritual growth in the lives of others requires our concentration and discipline. Are we willing to labor “fervently” in prayer to ask God to meet the needs of our loved ones?  — Dennis Fisher

Praying for me is like a personal conversation with God and it gives me an opportunity to repent. When you pray, it keeps you on the track and never miss out the good stuff that God has made wonderful changes in your life or in someone’s life. Continue praying! :) also check out the media tab of this website and scroll down to see the prayer video, it’s hilarious.

Intercession is vital in the body of Christ and at all times the world is in need of people who can be willing to set aside self and pray for another soul or a need that is not our own.

we can’t feel connected to God if we don’t pray.
Prayer for me gives me a sense of belonging. That God is actually around and with me.

Thank you for all these links and answers. I also want to ask that since we ae made right with God through faith in Jesus Christ romans 3:22. Does that mean that we can go on sinning since we are saved by believing in Him? romans 10:9.

truly GOD has plans 4 everything, but d bible says ask & it shall b given….(matt 7:70) so by praying we are asking.

Kneeling shows our submission to our father in heaven..

  7. hello there says:

hello steamed chicken, we all know that God is holy and a little of sin is just like a black spot on a white piece of cloth. God is never stained and He doesnt like anyone to sin upon Him. But yet we are always sinning! Yes we’re saved if only we believe in Him. We also know that we cannot always sinning just cause He’s our loving Father and knowing that He’s capable of forgiveness. We know that we’ve limitations. God is not hesitant in punishing people who constantly sin against Him even though he gave us many chances. Is by choice that we chose to sin.

hope what i’ve typed here will help and im here to learn more from the others too :)
